A unique, handcrafted piece

LumiStrata is an exceptional light fixture, a handcrafted wooden lamp designed as a unique piece, the result of many hours of reflection, development, and production. Made entirely by hand at Dôme en Folie, each piece bears the mark of its creator’s hand, the passage of time, and their exacting standards.

A structure made of layers of natural wood

The structure is composed of framire triangles, an African wood species renowned for its fine grain and straightness. Assembled in successive layers, these elements create a rhythmic form that captures and transforms light. Depending on the viewing angle and movement around the fixture, the wood reveals natural variations, transitioning from light, golden tones to deeper browns. Even when unlit, the lamp maintains a strong, shifting, almost living presence.

A precise assembly in service of light

Between each layer, three turned solid oak spacers create a precise gap, allowing light to circulate freely. Artisanally crafted from oak billets, turned and then cut one by one, these spacers ensure both the stability of the structure and the quality of light diffusion.

Noble and unique materials

The circular base is crafted from solid plane wood, a local species, now rare, often felled in France due to a persistent disease. Its ample grain and visible knots lend each base a unique identity. A framiré triangle is integrated into it as a geometric anchor point, establishing formal continuity between the base and the upper structure, and visually guiding the eye from the ground towards the light’s ascent.

The central steel stem, manually sanded and polished, features a deliberately imperfect, almost chrome-like finish. The slight visible irregularities attest to the material’s craftsmanship and reinforce the piece’s artisanal character, contrasting with the precision of the wood.

A sculptural presence, lit or unlit

When lit, LumiStrata diffuses a calm and enveloping light, conducive to serene and warm atmospheres. When unlit, it remains a sculptural object in its own right, where geometry, material, and the natural variations of the wood continue to dialogue with the space.
